LIVING HEALTHY COMMOTIONS CENTRAL 2009

For the fourth year in a row, schools across the province were invited to join in the “Living Healthy Commotions”, which was held Friday, October 9th, 2009.

For the fourth year in a row Nova Central School District schools, in conjunction with other schools across the province, raised a commotion on October 9th as part of the province-wide celebration of healthy living. Almost all schools registered and they received funds to support their plans. There were many great activities that occurred. Schools held games and competitions, provided snacks, had kick-off breakfasts and special walks.

Feedback from some of our schools on Commotions 2009 included the following:

AVOCA COLLEGIATE
“Teamwork and organization are the key to running a successful commotion.”

EXPLOITS VALLEY INTERMEDIATE
“That students need to be responsible for and incorporate physical activity into their daily routine.”

BRIAN PECKFORD PRIMARY
“Helping teach students the importance of having a healthy lifestyle while
having fun.”

LESTER PEARSON MEMORIAL HIGH
“We had a school -wide scavenger hunt, and the best thing about it was that the entire school was involved. All the students loved it and were very active in finding their items.”

MILLCREST ACADEMY
“We are well on our way to establishing a great parent volunteer base and our school community celebrates these active schools initiatives.”

CENTREVILLE ACADEMY

“Children inherently love to be active“

GILL MEMORIAL ACADEMY
“Kids are willing to eat fresh fruit if it is available and prepared for them.”

WILLIAM MERCER ACADEMY

“Health is the number one priority.”
